Orchestra - 966 College/Career Prep Full Year - 1.0 credit
This course is open to any student who plays violin, viola, cello, or string bass. The goal of the EGHS Orchestra is to take the individual instrumental student at the skill level they enter the classroom and move them forward towards becoming an independent musician. All string students enter the orchestra curriculum at different levels both in terms of their skill and level of musicianship. By finding common ground and moving the orchestra forward into a cohesive ensemble. In particular the goal is to teach them the art of orchestra performance through the classic repertoire and literature outside the orchestra tradition. The cycle of rehearsal and performance provides the framework to achieve these goals. The underpinning for the delivery of a successful orchestra curriculum is student-centered instruction.
